Directions: Director's Statement Research

http://www.creativeskillset.org/film/jobs/direction/article_3880_1.asp

This website gave me more of an in sight into what I was doing, It tells you about what a director does and the responsibilities, plus it says that a director should be creative and not hired until a first draft of the script is completed.

Directions: Director's Statement Research

http://dragontattoofilm.com/about-5/the-girl-with-the-dragon-tattoo/cast-crew/directors-statement/

This link is for the Director's statement front the film The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.
I feel that this didn't really help me with my Director's Statement as the director Stieg Larsson didn't explain why he did what he did. He just explained how he became the director of this film not what he did to make this film successful.

Directions Unit: Characters change

I will be changing my characters, this is due to having no replies to my casting on StarNow.

Jamie who was a Male who lost his Fiance will be changed to a Female who lost her dog, most of the details will be kept the same.
Jamie is a Female, 26 with long Blonde hair. She is an animal lover and her dog was her best friend and losing her was like losing a loved one. Jamie's friend is Lauren who is the daughter of a funeral home manager where she gets her dog Belle cremated. Jamie has been spending a lot of time moping around and is looking messy with un-brushed hair and no make-up, her room has old photos scattered on the floor and is quite girly with flowery curtains, cushions on the bed, flowers on the window ledge and a purple rug on the floor.

Lauren has really changed except that she won't be a potential partner for Jamie anymore, but she is worried about her friend which is why she does not bring her dog with her to meet Jamie. She wears skinny dark jeans and coat and scarf, she has light make-up on and hair tied back.

Directions: Ophelia

Ophelia created by Gregory Crewdson

Gregory is renowned for pieces of photography that have sets as big as a film, the people in the photographs are thought to be isolated and lost in thought unaware of their surroundings and the viewer.
Every detail in the photograph is planned and Gregory could close down streets to create his images.
Ophelia is about creating morbid and tranquility in a dead women floating in a suburban home. The half of the women we see is lifeless whether as the half under water is mysterious and sinister.
The water is a flood on the street that has invaded the plain suburban home.

Canon 7D test

We created this using a Canon 7D camera, this is the first time i used this camera and i was the one who filmed this.
I found this easier and better to use than the Sony EX camera, this camera is lighter and more portable. I  found this camera easier to focus and use the depth of field but the Canon does not have some of the other useful features like peaking zebra.

Directions: Script before Edited

This script was given to us by our teacher and we would have to re-wrie it using our characters and idea's from our chosen genre.

Directions Unit: My Idea

A Journey through…Sorrow

My main character is a male aged 28, Jamie who is tall, between 5ft 11 and 6ft 2, with brunette hair and recently he looks tired and scruffy. Jamie is a newly single man who works in an office for a living. His girlfriend who he just got engaged too passed away a couple of months before.

The second character is a female aged 24, Lauren who works for her dad at a funeral parlour, she wears smart suits and high heels. Lauren is kind to everyone and could be Jamie's next potential partner. She has long brunette hair and is pale in colour.

My locations:
The "Home" location will actually be at a house, a small 2 bedroom house which would have been decorated by Jamie's girlfriend Lucy. There is is fireplace in the lounge by the coffee table and a cream carpet. Their bedroom has dark flowery curtains and cushions which would be on the bed, there is photographs and little little around the walls.

Some of my other locations are an Alley way where Jamie hesitates, outside a funeral parlour where he will meet Lauren to collect the parcel and in the high street on his way to collect the parcel. I chose these as there would be plenty of people around and they fitted my version of the script and what i wanted to create.

The parcel:
The package that Jamie collects will be an Urn, this is Lucy's Urn (Jamie's previous girlfriend)

Directions Unit: The Note task

This is a task we did in class so we could practice being a director, I directed this piece using Roxanne Meats as my cameraman and Sophie Marriott and my Actress.
I feel that by doing this task i have got the chance to experience what being a director takes before i go and do it for myself in a couple of weeks, I learnt that it can't be rushed and you should have some idea's before going on set about what you want.
