Canon 7D test

We created this using a Canon 7D camera, this is the first time i used this camera and i was the one who filmed this.
I found this easier and better to use than the Sony EX camera, this camera is lighter and more portable. I  found this camera easier to focus and use the depth of field but the Canon does not have some of the other useful features like peaking zebra.

Directions Unit: My Idea

A Journey through…Sorrow

My main character is a male aged 28, Jamie who is tall, between 5ft 11 and 6ft 2, with brunette hair and recently he looks tired and scruffy. Jamie is a newly single man who works in an office for a living. His girlfriend who he just got engaged too passed away a couple of months before.

The second character is a female aged 24, Lauren who works for her dad at a funeral parlour, she wears smart suits and high heels. Lauren is kind to everyone and could be Jamie's next potential partner. She has long brunette hair and is pale in colour.

My locations:
The "Home" location will actually be at a house, a small 2 bedroom house which would have been decorated by Jamie's girlfriend Lucy. There is is fireplace in the lounge by the coffee table and a cream carpet. Their bedroom has dark flowery curtains and cushions which would be on the bed, there is photographs and little little around the walls.

Some of my other locations are an Alley way where Jamie hesitates, outside a funeral parlour where he will meet Lauren to collect the parcel and in the high street on his way to collect the parcel. I chose these as there would be plenty of people around and they fitted my version of the script and what i wanted to create.

The parcel:
The package that Jamie collects will be an Urn, this is Lucy's Urn (Jamie's previous girlfriend)

Directions Unit: The Note task

This is a task we did in class so we could practice being a director, I directed this piece using Roxanne Meats as my cameraman and Sophie Marriott and my Actress.
I feel that by doing this task i have got the chance to experience what being a director takes before i go and do it for myself in a couple of weeks, I learnt that it can't be rushed and you should have some idea's before going on set about what you want.

Directions Unit: Project Brief

In the new topic Directions there is 3 different projects: the 4-minute Dramatic film, the Director Statement and the 1-minute Sound Clip.

The 4-minute Dramatic film:
For this we was given a script which we would have to interpret in our way and create a storyline behind the script that would fit into one of our chosen category: Sorrow, Loneliness, Love, Anger and Freedom.
I chose Sorrow.
I chose Sorrow as I came up with a storyline that would fit the script, it is about a Male who has just lost his Fiance and has to go on a Journey to collect her Urn. Along the way he meets up with the daughter of the manger of the funeral place which i though could be a potential partner in the future.

The Director Statement:
This is document which covers everything i will do to achieve the end result of the 4-minute piece, this includes the approaches of props, clothing, weather and locations.

1-minute Sound clip:
We are given a choice of Gregory Crewdson's Photograph that we have to use to create the illusion of being a moving image by using sounds and the movement of the photography. We have to use Royalty free and by using no music, this will be done by using Foley, FX etc.

Directions

We have just started the Directions unit, the first task is to chose a Gregory Crewdson photo from these to create a 1 minutes sound clip:

We was given a decision of six photos.
I chose to use the Flooded Room one, as I believe I can create a story out of this just by editing the picture and sound.
