Studio Production: Logo

This is the logo created by Lex and Vic, the idea came from a text box and was just adapted for the show but we also added the person to show its a chat show, the colour scheme was chosen by me and Charlie.

This is what the class came up with as the hashtag and we had the keep the same colours and fonts, but we needed this for the Facebook and the twitter pages ( this is used as the cover photo ) the only thing is that the pixels haven't been kept the same as the logos font has the pixels but this doesn't which i think it should.

Studio Production: My Role

My role is Promotions Producer ( Promo for short)

I have a team of 4 people which include:

Lex as DOP for Trailer and Behind the scenes

Charlie as DOP for Titles and Behind the scenes

Vic as Promo Editor

Sam as Promo sound

Being the producer means I am in charge of what each person does and making sure it is safe and there is permission to film, making sure everyone has something to do and are keeping unto date by setting deadlines for them. Myself I am doing all the promo stuff like finding audience and getting the word out about the production over twitter and Facebook but also contacting radio for shout outs etc.
I feel this is a good role for me as I am a producer but I am not in control of the actual production as I feel that would be too much for me but I am happy with my team and I feel that there is great potential for people and we will all work well together as long as people pull there weight and are not lazy as we don't have time for that,
The Promotions is important as otherwise no one would be in the audience or would have herd of the show but we need to start our jobs as soon as possible as the trailer and poster and logo need to be done to publicise.

Studio Production: Chosen Idea

The chosen idea is by Helen Welsh and is a panel chat show for our age which I feel is new as no one thinks about a show for teens and young adults.

Studio Production: Chosen Idea to Pitch

After talking to Helen we spoke about my 3 ideas and whether they are strong enough and which one is the better one to pitch, some of the stuff said:

For Idea 1- sitcom
Helen said to watch the series Derek and Vicious as these are more like what I am following with the elderly and care home comedy idea.
Is the idea going to be like Mrs Browns Boys and defy what people think of the elderly or break the boxes.
The storyline needs a lot of work in order to chose the is idea as the storyline is curial to making the program and also would help with the sorting of the idea and what would relieve a lot of pressure off the production and make it more viable to make.
Pictures from other comedies and care homes needed for the pitch and a synopsis.

Helen loved the second idea and said would be easier and viable and a good choice to continue with but just being blindfolded and eating wouldn't be enough for the show and would need more storyline and work especially with health and safety.
after the talk I had another idea of 2 more stages to the competition which would need to be recce'd to see whether it could be done in the studio and if its safe enough.

After the talk I have decided I will continue with idea 2 and just work on the storyline, the contestants and to test out each stage with someone and record it for the pitch. I need to work on all the details like the characters and the stages and the timings just to see if its going to fit the 30 minutes and how its going to be scored and if there is going to be a prize etc.
There is a lot of things to do for the pitch but I know what needs to be done and am happy with this chosen idea I just need to make sure I have as much as detail for the pitch so my idea is chosen.

Studio Production: Ideas

Idea 1
British type sitcom – pilot episode
This would be trying to be funny but not be that funny as its british humor so mainly puns which will be bad, but so bad that people will laugh
Idea suppose to be kindof like the inbetweeners as its british humor but not crude teenage comedy
I am thinking of an elderly situation in a set like a care home so would only really need 1 maybe 2 sets as these wouldn’t really move around anywhere
I was thinking of viewing this about 10 o clock so there could be rude and inappropriate language as that would be funny coming out of eldery peoples mouth.
The elderly could do surprising stuff like pretend to hoover with a lawn mower etc, but this will need to be figured out.
There would be cute moments where the elderly would forget things and talk about the modern outside and what they think of it. There is potential to repeat jokes and make you sigh as the joke was bad the first time and even worse the second time.
The funny aspects would need a bit of work and be figured out as there isn’t really any programs where elderly people sit around making jokes and doing stuff to make you laugh so the storyline needs work.
This is a rough idea and needs work and could be hard to figure out and record but I feel its different and there could be potential.
Only having 1 set for this would be helpful for filming the pilot episode and means less work in making this come to life.
The VT’s will be made up of the character profiles but with a twist so to make them funny the characters will not just be in their wheel chairs.
I am thinking of having 3 or 4 main characters that will be sitting and chatting about the world making jokes that are terrible but this will have to be made funny.

Idea 2-

A tasting show
This could be broadcasted at anytime between 6pm and 10pm depending on what was being consumed as if it was I’m a Celebrity and eating kangaroo testicles then it would have to be 9pm or 10pm as could be inappropriate for a younger audience but if wanted to appeal to a younger audience then have things more like guacamole and jelly etc.
The contestants would be blind folded and fed different foods without being told what it is, some would taste good and some horrible, the audience would know what it is and the contestant would have to guess and get scored on the answer by a judging panel.
Hopefully we would have contestants that hate certain foods and when we feed them they could spit it out to make the audience laugh.
I would like a judging panel of 3 ranging genders and 3 contestants who will be eating ranging genders and liking different types of foods.
The set will be basic but the floor would need covering just incase food got on it. The background is sort of the only set needed and a table and chairs.
It would be good to get the audience involved in some way
The VT’s would be 1 for each team to introduce them quickly as there wont be long as the program is only 30 minutes, and 1 or 2 for a quick showing of the cooking or preparing the food – rough idea

Idea 3-

Game show vs the sexes
Have a panel for each gender of either 2 or 3 on each which will use 2 VT’s to introduce the characters and as females and males what jobs they do and what sexist things they are good at.
The idea would be to do thing the opposite sexes would do a lot, there would be a test of inelegance and strength then skills the other sex does on a regular basis so the men would paint their nails and be judged on accuracy and mistakes and the females would play a console and see how long they could last without dying etc, this could be pre-recorded and used as a VT.
Each person could be scored separately and the team with the most points would win, the scores would come from a judging panel of 2 people 1 of each sex but the audience could also vote who they believe should win but this is just what they think and wont affect the score.

This is feel would be on during the week about 7pm as nothing inappropriate would be shown and hopefully no swearing would take place.

Studio Production: Introduction

The new unit studio production is set to go on until the 27th of April and is set up of different topics, the main one is the LIVE set performance and the report we write about what we did and summarise the project in 1500 words.
A production of any kind starts as a blank page its what you put on it that makes the production come to life, the studio production is going to be the idea of one persons who would have pitched to a panel consisting of our tutors and that person will produce the whole production, as this is filmed in front of a live audience it is more stressful than a TV or Film set as it can be redone.

This has got to be a 30 minute program that will be aired on the channel of your choice at your choice time depending on the program and the target audience. The production is split in 2 so everyone has something to do at all times and to pull their weight. Its going to be made up of VT's, costumes, props, set, audience and a promo teams who advertises the production.

We each need to pitch an idea so see which one is best and to do for the production. The chosen idea will be the one we use and the person who will become the producer.
There is 5 different departments Sounds, Camera, Edit, Direction and Production, I would like to be part of the Production team if I don't get producer then somewhere in that department.

Instead of being marked on our blogs this time we have to write a report to detail what our was and what we had to do to complete this, this does need to be referenced properly and be written like an essay instead of a report.
